I’m Parasuraman Kannan

Turning complex workflows into intuitive enterprise experiences.

I design enterprise products, design systems, and platform experiences that simplify complexity. My work focuses on helping users navigate technical workflows while enabling teams to build consistently at scale.

A journey shaped by places, people, and design

I was born in Pondicherry and shaped by experiences across India, Abu Dhabi, and Germany, each place adding a layer to how I see design, culture, and people.

My shift into design began with a visit to the Museum of Applied Art in Frankfurt, where I discovered Dieter Rams’ work. That moment turned my curiosity into purpose. From a mechanical engineer to earning a master’s in product design, I transitioned from physical products to the world of digital experiences.

Starting in a design studio, I’ve since worked across big data, fintech, healthcare, and enterprise tools, moving from IC to Head of Design. Along the way, I’ve built design systems, led teams, and aligned business goals with human-centered design.

Every role introduced a new domain, new users, and new challenges. That continuous learning mindset still shapes how I approach design today.

My design philosophy

Over the years, these principles have shaped how I solve problems, build products, and work with cross-functional teams.

Systems before screens

Great experiences come from well-designed systems, not individual interfaces.

Start with user reality

Understanding workflows and constraints is more valuable than assumptions.

Build with teams, not for teams

The best outcomes happen when design, product, and engineering solve problems together.

Stay curious

Every domain teaches a new way to think about users, products, and complexity.

Things I love

Beyond design systems and enterprise products, these are a few things that keep me curious, creative, and continuously learning.

Making things with 3D printing

I enjoy turning small problems into useful physical objects. My mechanical and product design background naturally pulled me toward 3D printing, where I design and print practical fixes, organizers, workspace accessories, and small home-improvement solutions.

From Gridfinity organizers for tools and parts to under-desk cable management systems and custom household accessories, I enjoy finding everyday friction points and designing simple solutions for them.

What I love most is the process—observe a problem, design a fix, print it, test it, and improve it.

Blogs & Writing

Writing helps me slow down and make sense of what I’m learning across design systems, AI, product strategy, and real-world UX challenges.

I use writing as a way to reflect on projects, document lessons learned, and share practical ideas with the design community. It’s also where I explore how emerging technologies are shaping the future of product design.

Building LEGO worlds

I’m a long-time LEGO enthusiast with a growing collection focused primarily on Star Wars spacecraft and characters. One of my favorite builds so far is the Millennium Falcon, with the Razor Crest next on my build list.

For me, LEGO is a mix of creativity, patience, systems thinking, and a chance to disconnect from screens while still building something meaningful.

Over the years, I’ve collected more than 20 sets, turning a simple hobby into a creative outlet that continues to inspire my love for building things.

Sharing what I learn

I enjoy sharing what I learn through mentoring, workshops, presentations, and conversations with designers, product managers, and engineers.

Over the years, I’ve conducted design thinking sessions, introduced design systems to cross-functional teams, and mentored designers at different stages of their careers.

Teaching often helps me learn as much as it helps others, and it’s something I hope to continue doing throughout my career.

Moments I’m proud of

A few milestones that reflect the impact of my work and the communities I’ve been fortunate to be part of.
